One of the best parts of Christmas is putting up the Christmas tree. That, for me, is the icing on top of the Christmas cake. I really start to feel Christmassy once the tree is up. My family has an artificial Christmas tree which, this year, we have placed in the main room of our house. We have used this tree for around three years now, and is still going strong. Our theme for the tree is usually red, gold and silver, just all the decorations we have collected over the years. We also decorate with long, metallic bead garlands to give the tree more structure, and fairy lights to make the tree stand out. The fairy lights are my favourite part of the tree. To top the tree, we have an angel in a silver dress, which we have frequently used.
In my bedroom, I also have a Christmas tree, however mine is much, much smaller. It currently stands on the floor in the corner of my room. The colour scheme for my tree is white, copper, gold and silver, and my theme is 'Rustic Woodland'. I have achieved this by using several animal tree decorations and by placing pine cones inside my tree. I recently purchased a box of around 16 different baubles from Home Bargains, which fit my colour scheme perfectly. They were of an extremely good quality and were very cheap. To give my tree more structure, just like the large tree, I added a silver string bead garland, which I purchased from my favourite garden centre. I also tied some opaque ribbon with golden detailing to form bows, which I then used to finish off my tree to give it a girly feel. I purchased the ribbon from the same garden centre.
The fairy lights I have used on my Christmas tree match my theme perfectly. They are warm berry lights, which I purchased at WHSmith. I prefer these lights to whiter lights because they seem to have a much cosier, warmer feel to them. To top my Christmas tree, I have a large copper star which complements all the gold and silver. My Christmas tree this year is the best I've ever had, because I understand which colours suit my bedroom a lot more than I used to. How do you decorate your tree(s) for Christmas?
I can't quite believe how close it is to Christmas. I'll definitely be sad when it's all over, but right now I'm focusing on the festivities of this month. I also can't get over the fact that it's nearly 2016. For me, 2015 has just flown by.
