One of my favourite things to have is a good old smoothie. They're so healthy but also very tasty. And you know the best part? You can put whatever you want in them. Below is a smoothie recipe I think is both tasty and healthy, using fruit that you'll most likely have around the house.I would say that smoothies are possibly going to be my go-to breakfasts this Summer, as they fill you up and are great on the go. So without further ado, let's make a smoothie!
You will need:
Strawberries
1 banana
Orange juice (smooth or with bits)
Yoghurt (preferably plain Greek or a simple flavour)
1. Slice up the banana and the strawberries if they're not already sliced.
2. Add these slices to the smoothie blender.
3. Next, add the yoghurt to the blender. You can add as much or as little as you like. Yoghurt adds density to the smoothie.
4. Then pour some orange juice into the blender. This lessens the density that the yoghurt provides - you don't want a wallpaper paste-like smoothie! - and adds a citrus flavour.
5. If you want to add anything like ice, honey, golden syrup etc., do so at this point. I decided not to add anything else to make it as healthy as possible.
6. Attach your smoothie jug to the base of your blender and switch on. Everything needs to be fully-blended to get that desired smooth texture. Unless, of course, you like having banana and strawberry slices in your smoothies!
7. Pour your finished smoothie mix into a glass, and there you have it! A healthy, tasty and satisfying breakfast. You might want to have something else with this if it doesn't completely fill you up or you like having something to chew on for breakfast.
As you can see, this is a really simple recipe. The great thing about smoothies is that you can add whatever you want to get your desired taste. I gave you a general recipe to create a classic strawberry and banana smoothie, but you can add anything else you want to. There aren't really any measurements in this recipe because others may want more of something. Someone may want lots of strawberries or a lot of yoghurt, it really just depends on who is making the smoothie.
I hope you enjoyed reading this simple recipe. I've been wanting to add more posts about food and baking but sometimes this can involve a lot of practical work, although I'm going to try and step up my game this year and bring various recipes to my blog. See you all soon!
