Collection's Velvet Kiss Lip Creams, Reviewed
12 March 2017
Today I thought I'd give you a quick review of something that I've been getting a lot of use out of in recent weeks. You may have already guessed from the title of the post, but the product in question is the Collection Velvet Kiss Lip Cream, more specifically, in the shade 'Caramel 2'.
First and foremost, let's talk about the shade. As you can see, it is a slightly darker nude with a pinkish undertone to it. It's one of those shades that is great for those of you who, like me, want to wear something darker but not so dramatic. Around 2-3 layers have to be applied before the product looks completely opaque, although it's mentioned that the colour is buildable. Plus, the applicator is a great size but could be softer.
In terms of its texture, the product promises a "matte finish without drying" and I can certainly say that it keeps about 90% of this promise. While it does dry matte (very quickly and smoothly in fact) as one would anticipate, it does feel slightly drying. Of course, lip products of this kind are expected to feel drying, so the formulation doesn't really differ to any others.
As for staying power, I'd say that the product lasts around 20-30 minutes with eating and drinking, before having to be reapplied. The colour does not completely disappear, however, but the colour has a tendency to fade, especially more towards the centre of the lips. Although, the outside area usually lasts longer.
Overall, I'd probably rate this product 8/10, as the colour is a great shade and the price is very reasonable and I can't complain about either, however there is definitely room for improvement in terms of the product's longevity.
